"La cuerda floja" (The loose rope) watercolor, Honduras, 1997. Growing up, I saw the deadly effects of alcohol in our communities. Alcohol as is commercially produced and excessively consumed today was not familiar to Native people of this continent. Rates of alcohol-related medical problems and mortality are higher among communities with historically least exposure to it, and are more vulnerable to the negative effects of it.
